Things I Like: A Minimal Refresh to Your Living Room

Every year when Spring comes around, like most people, I like to do a deep update to the house. Usually this involves A LOT of cleaning, and especially cleaning of places that my duster has avoided for the last six months. I genuinely enjoy this process because, well, I simply like to clean. My favorite part actually comes at the end, when you’re sitting down, admiring what you’ve accomplished, with the peace of mind that those dust bunnies are gone, the linens are clean, and those gross smudge marks on the walls are finally out of sight. However, I don’t just stop this update with the cleaning; I like to slightly shift the aesthetics of the house to a more “spring vibe.” And this spring, I’m very excited to be partnering with AllModern to bring you a refreshed look of our living room.

I’ve found that the best look to an optimum refresh is minimalism—less is more. This mantra has pretty much been on repeat in my head while I’ve been conjuring a plan to put a little life back into the space, and really rejuvenate it, but also on a minimal level. Oh yes, a juxtaposition—the secret ingredient to a good design challenge (and I love a good design challenge).

To begin where all my great ideas beginning, I made a list. I started off with what areas of of the living room could use a little more love, and a little less attention. Then, cue the AllModern team, and a mood board has been created. Some of these items I will be using in my actual living room refresh, some of them I already own (because it’s always wise and resourceful to use what we already have), and some are there for pure inspiration.

I have a couple more ideas with this room refresh coming your way in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned for, obviously, some simple DIYs you can do in your own living room update, as well as the final reveal of our minimally refreshed living room.
