Take On Me Cocktail

 
 

Back in 2018 when Ryne was just starting out as a bartender, I asked him to help me with a Valentine’s Day cocktail for the blog. We called in Love Potion No. 9 after the infamous song recorded in 1964 by The Searchers. Well, once again, Ryne helped me with another cocktail, and once again, it’s named after an infamous song, just a few decades later. It’s bit similar to the Love Potion No. 9 cocktail, but has a few extra steps and ingredients, which honestly, I feel, makes it quite a bit better.

Take On Me Recipe

  • 3 to 4 Muddled Strawberries

  • 2 dashes orange bitters

  • 1.5 oz Gin

  • 0.5 oz Meletti

  • 0.25oz Falernum

  • 0.75oz Fresh Lime Juice

  • 0.75oz Hibiscus Tea Syrup

  • 3 Mint leaves

  1. Shaken with ice, strained, and poured over ice

  2. Top with Club Soda

  3. Add Strawberry and Min to Garnish

Recipe for Hibiscus Tea Syrup

  • 5 Hibiscus Tea packets

  • 1 1/2 cups of water 

  • 1 cup of granulated sugar

  1. Combine water and hibiscus in a small sauce pan 

  2. Bring to boil then cut heat 

  3. Let stand for 15 to 20 min and strain

  4. Make 1:1 syrup. Combine 1 cup of hibiscus tea and 1 cup of sugar in a small saucepan

  5. Bring to boil then cut heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.
